The Homemaker Aide will perform a variety of routine household tasks to maintain an adequate living environment for older individuals with functional limitations. Must comply with policies and procedures of Schoolcraft County and its funding sources.
YOUR AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE (That Matter Most for This Role):
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience and/or training in housekeeping, household management, good health practices, observations, reporting and documenting information.
One-year experience working with the elderly or in the human service field.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Must have a valid driver’s license and properly insured and registered working vehicle that will be used on the job.
Must be able to work well with others.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Must adhere to work order, only performing duties listed on work order.
Light housekeeping tasks (dusting, vacuuming, mopping floors, cleaning bathroom, cleaning kitchen, making beds, etc.) to assist clients with maintaining a clean home environment.
Maintain safe environment for clients.
Observing, reporting, and documenting changes in client’s condition and home environment.
Maintain/adhere to homemaker aide schedule and inform office of all changes/reschedules to daily/monthly schedule.
Keep supervisor informed of unusual client behavior or physical changes.
Must have ability to complete and turn in accurate unit documentation, time sheets, travel vouchers, and client documentation on time.
In case of emergency, you must be able to call 911 and follow emergency protocol of the program and of the client.
Attend/complete all trainings and continuing education.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
Climbing: Ascending or descending stairs, ramps, and the like.
Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking.
Standing/bending/crouching as necessary.
Extending/Reaching hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Standing or sitting for extended periods of time.
Walking about on foot to accomplish tasks, including long distance walking to client homes.
Lifting to include up to 50 pounds maximum.
Pushing/pulling using arms and hands and using repetitive motions, such as movements of the hands, wrists or fingers.
Talking and communicating with the clients, client family members, co-workers, and office staff.
SALARY:
$14.33 an hour
Additional $3.40 an hour Premium Pay
